Energi surya adalah salah satu sumber energi terbarukan yang memiliki potensi besar terutama jika diaplikasikan dalam sistem pendingin pada bangunan. Tidak hanya dapat mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap energi fosil tetapi pemanfaatan energi tenaga surya ini juga dapat menurunkan emisi gas rumah kaca. Berbagai teknologi pendingin berbasis tenaga surya telah dilakukan penelitian seperti pendingin termal, fotovoltaik, hibrida PV/T, CCHP serta teknologi radiative dan material perubahan fasa (PCM). Dengan berbagai tinjauan literatur, diidentifikasi perkembangan teknologi, efisiensi energi, tantangan implementasi, juga arah pengembangan di masa depan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa system hybrid dan CCHP merupakan sistem yang memiliki efisiensi tertinggi, namun memiliki kekurangan karena memerlukan investasi awal yang tinggi. Tantangan ketidakpastian cuaca, biaya serta integrasi infrastruktur mampu diatasi dengan inovasi bahan dan kebijakan energi berkelanjutan.
